THIS LIGHT ORANGE HEIRLOOM WAS NAMED AFTER THE AMANA COLONIES IN IOWA. HOWEVER THIS TOMATO ORGINATED FROM THE AMISH IN OHIO. THIS IS IRREGULAR SHAPED TOMATO THAT IS LARGE. IN 2007 THIS TOMATOE WAS DELCARED TO BE A BETTER SOURCE OF LYCOPENES BUT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. IT IS SWEET WITH A TROPICAL FRUIT FLAVOR. ANOTHER GOOD POINT IS THAT IT IS LOW IN ACID. THIS IS A MUST TO ANY COLORFUL CAPRICE SALADS OR SLICED FOR YOUR HAMBURGER OR OTHER SANDWHICH.  FOR A SNACK TRY IT SLICED OR QUARTER WITH CRACKED PEPPER AND SALT.
